The History of APEC Energy Minister's Meeting
The first meeting of APEC Energy Ministers was held in 1996 in Sydney, Australia. Since then, eight meetings have been held in the cities such as Edmonton (Canada), San Diego (USA), Mexico City (Mexico), Manila (Philippines), and so on. This will be the second meeting in Japan since 1998 in Okinawa.
In the previous meeting held in Darwin, Australia, in search of measures to correspond the increasing energy demands with the environment, enhancement of energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the use of clean energy were discussed.
This meeting is important for us to maintain the energy security in the Asian-Pacific region, build a close relationship about low-carbon measures to reduce CO2 emissions and spread the measures to the world.
