About the Holding of Ikimono Shirabe (living creatures survey) / Nature Restoration Activity Presentation

  We would like to announce that an activity presentation meeting of “Ikimono Hyakuyoubako (literally, living creatures instrument shelter / means nature observation)” and “Nature Restoration Fukui Action Project”, which Fukui Prefecture has promoted this year with an aim for Fukui citizens to have interest in nature surrounding them and to tackle the issue of its restoration, will be held as follows.

1. Date

February 20th (Sat) 2010, 13:30 pm to 16:30 pm

Fukui Prefectural Children History and Culture Museum

3. Content (details on the supplementary sheet)

(1) Keynote lecture “Before and after we created biotope space”
      Hasegawa Iwao (Director of Fukui Prefecture Amphibian and Reptilian Society)
 


(2) Activity presentation
    *Wakasa municipal Misomi Elementary School, “Having a try on puddle field full of living creatures”
    *Sakaguchi Eco Mate, “Making sticky rice and living creature survey in organic puddle field”
    *Fukui Prefectural Koshi High School, “Distributional survey of lanceleaf tickseed, an invasive alien species”


(3) Display of posters showing activity results with explanation
     About 5 groups

(4) Panel discussion “Every one can do everywhere? , Tips for activities”
     Topic offer 1 “Reporting about the result of the questionnaire for Ikimono Hyakuyobako participants”
          Hirayama Akiko (manager of Fukui Prefectural Nature Conservation Center)
     Topic offer 2 “Management conditions after creating school biotope space and living conditions of creatures”
          Hoshina Hedeto (associate professor of Faculty of Education and Regional Studies, Fukui University)
     Topic offer 3 “Maintenance system of biotope and countermeasure against invasive alien species”
          Sekioka Hiroaki (professional engineer in the field of environment)
       Coordinator, Sakamoto Hitoshi (Nome Nature and Environment Education Institute)
     *The contest may slightly change for certain reasons.

4. Participation

No need to apply, free of charge

5. Objective

  To increase the number of people who examine, consider and act for nature, by creating an opportunity for activities to move up through sharing issues both existing activists and future ones face with each other and solving them by professional advice
