6. Contents

About one hundred years have passed since the first domestically-produced automobile started running, looked on with people’s surprise and envy. Over time, Japanese auto companies have come to mass-produce cars, and now they have prided themselves on having the world’s top performance and design as one of the major automobile manufacturers in the world.
This exhibition shows 14 real cars produced mainly in the 1960’s – so-called golden period when Japanese cars had reached full growth at an accelerating pace -; goes through the transition of car-styling and design, displays design pictures drawn before new car creation, prototypes, and advertising materials; and examines Japanese automobile culture of the day.
