5. Outlines
Wood has been widely used as a familiar material and a variety of tools have been devised as well.
This time, we will introduce tools used by karaki-zaiku craftsmen in Mikuni and by tategu craftsmen in Fukui among them.
Graftsmen have taken good care of their tools in order to realize their highly skilled arts and made some of them when needed. Therefore, there are subtle differences in the same type of tools, and the number of them has become larger.
The materials introduced this time are those which have been used just before being collected or the family of owners have cherished long, so that they are preserved as perfectly as when they were really used by the craftsman, which results in their great values.
6. Other information
Now Fukui Prefecture has promoted “Family Time”, and we do hope that you will take this opportunity with your families.
*“Family Time” refers to the time spent by families caring for children to talk with, enjoy themselves together, and cooperate with each other.
*We regret to say that the stuff on the site speak only Japanese.
