About the Holding of Test-ride Event of “Solar Car with Hybrid Battery” Made by Fukui Technical College Students
We would like to announce that as part of “High School and University Students’ Voluntary Projects against Global Warming” supported by Fukui Prefecture, a test-ride event of “solar car mounting hybrid electric source by solar battery and fuel battery” produced by members of the solar car club in Fukui Technical College will be held as follows.
“Objective”
Members of the solar car club in Fukui Technical College produced a solar car mounting hybrid electric source with the combination of solar battery and fuel battery. The car has been improved from the one produced in 2000 May by the students then, mounted new fuel battery to be a hybrid type. This time a test-ride event will be held for junior and senior high school students in order to raise their awareness of the importance of introducing eco cars.

Contents
1. Introducing the structure of the hybrid electric source with the combination of solar battery and fuel battery, and the solar car itself; as well as of producing process of the electric source
2. Doing an experiment of lighting up LED light by using hydrogen generated through electrolysis of water by solar battery into fuel battery
3. Doing a test-ride of the solar car produced by Fukui Technical College students
4. Doing a test-ride of the electric car (I-MiEV) of Fukui Prefecture, asking visitors for “eco manifesto of my home” of LOVE EARTH FUKUI

What is “High School and University Students’ Voluntary Projects against Global Warming”?
The purpose of this project is to promote high school and university students to create an opportunity to reconsider global warming and take action for themselves. It can be a trigger for young people to think and act more against global warming. Fukui prefecture has been calling for groups of young people like high school and university students to work on voluntary activities and projects. Fukui Prefecture has adopted some of them as “High School and University Students’ Voluntary Projects against Global Warming” and has been supporting them.
The prefecture offered a subsidy of 100 thousand yen to this solar car event as part of the cost for fuel battery production. Subsidy activities have been conducted since 2007, amounting 1,350,000 yen for 16 events and projects.
