Name: Mr.Andrew Fisher

Nationality: South Africa

Induction:July 2009

I recently walked the Otter Trail, which is a five day hike through the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve in the Western Cape of South Africa. The hike follows the coast, so we saw many beautiful animals, including the Cape Clawless otter and bottlenose dolphins.

We also saw many beautiful wild flowers, including examples of fynbos. Fynbos is a type of plant only found in the Cape Floral Kingdom of South Africa. The Cape Floral Kingdom is the smallest of the world's six Floral kingdoms, but it is home to about half of all the wildflower species which grow in southern Africa. Many of these plants have very small, tough leaves. The word fynbos is an Afrikaans word meaning "small leaves".

Anyone can book to walk the Otter Trail from overseas, through the South African National Parks   website: www.sanparks.org. Search for "otter trail".

I hope you will come to South Africa to enjoy its beautiful nature soon!

All the best,

Andrew Fisher
