このページは、平成２５年７月１２日（金）に福井県立恐竜博物館で行われた、アジア恐竜協会設立記念式典での知事祝辞をまとめたものです。

I am honored to have you today.

I pay my respect to your efforts in advancing dinosaur research and promoting education at your home countries.

Please accept my sincere congratulation for inauguration of the Asia Dinosaur Association today, with attendance of researchers from six Asian countries.

I heard discussions between some researchers at the International Dinosaur Symposium in Fukui 2008 have resulted in the foundation of the Asia Dinosaur Association.

After five years of your steady and great efforts, we now achieve today’s foundation ceremony.

Fukui prefecture has sent curators of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum to Thailand and China for joint excavation project, and has advanced Asian dinosaur research and constructed the network of researchers.

Also, this April we have opened the Dinosaur Research Institute at the Fukui Prefectural University, to develop the network between dinosaur researchers and promote dinosaur research of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.

Moreover, in honor of the inauguration of the association, the international dinosaur symposium will take place next March in Fukui Prefecture to advance dinosaur research. Fukui Prefecture pledges full support.

Fukui has beautiful natural environment, delicious food, sightseeing place such as the Tojinbo cliffs and the Eiheiji Temple. I hope you enjoy staying Fukui on this occasion.

In closing, I wish a future success of the Asia Dinosaur Association and best wishes you continued success and prosperity.

　本日お集まりの皆様には、アジア各国からようこそ福井県へお越しいただきまして、心から歓迎申し上げます。

　また、日ごろからそれぞれの国において、恐竜研究の発展や教育普及に御尽力いただいておりますことに、深く敬意を表します。

　アジア恐竜協会が本日、アジア地域の関係６か国の研究者の御出席のもと、恐竜研究の学術的な組織として設立されましたことを、心からお祝い申し上げます。

　このアジア恐竜協会の設立については、２００８年３月にここ福井県立恐竜博物館で開催した「国際恐竜シンポジウム２００８」に参加された研究者の皆さんの話し合いがきっかけと伺っております。

　その後、様々な機会を見つけて会合が持たれ、５年の歳月をかけ、本日の設立を迎えたところであり、この間の関係者各位の熱意や御努力は計り知れないものがあると考えております。

　福井県では、アジア地域の恐竜研究の推進とネットワークの形成を図るため、タイや中国などに福井県立恐竜博物館の研究員を派遣し、恐竜化石調査の共同研究を行ってまいりました。

　また、今年４月には、福井県立大学に恐竜学研究所を開設しました。これにより、世界的に高い評価を得ている福井県立恐竜博物館の研究部門の学問的レベルをさらに高めるとともに、大学間のネットワークを生かして国内外の研究者との交流を深め、恐竜研究をより一層進めていきたいと考えております。

　さらに、アジア恐竜協会の設立を記念して、来年３月には福井県内で国際シンポジウムが開催されますが、恐竜研究の発展に向けて、福井県としても全面的に支援することとしております。

　福井県は、清らかな水に代表される豊かな自然と美味しい食材が豊富にあり、東尋坊や永平寺などの観光地もございますので、この機会に是非福井県を満喫していただけたら幸いでございます。

　最後に、アジア恐竜協会のますますの御発展と、本日御出席いただいた皆様方の御健勝、御多幸を祈念して、あいさつといたします。
